WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL TURNS TABLE ON BAKERSFIELD
SANTA MARIA-- In a hard fought battle, the Allan Hancock College women's volleyball team defeated Bakersfield in three straight games, 30-24, 30-24, 30-25, at the Joe White Memorial Gymnasium.
Hancock (6-4) was able to avenge an early season loss to the Renegades in Bakersfield. The Bulldogs started slowly in game one, falling behind 8-2 when head coach Heather Allen called a time-out. AHC battled back to tie the game at 15 and took the lead for good at, 20-19.
In game two Hancock fell behind 14-8. After another time-out, they rallied to outscore BC, 7-4. Once again the Bulldogs took a lead of 21-20 and finished the game with a 9-3 run. In a see-saw third game, AHC fell behind 18-17 before taking control and cruising to victory.
Geraldine Misa'alefua (So., American Samoa) led the Bulldogs with 17 kills. Allison Patton (So., St. Joseph HS) added nine while Alyssa Giorgi (So., Coastal Christian) tallied eight. Jessica Quant (So., Valley Christian) scored 39 assists on the night.
Brittni Fink (So., Arroyo Grande) led the team with 21 digs, followed by Lacy Camp (Fr., Righetti HS) with 11. Misa'alefua scored six blocks on the night.
The Bulldogs open conference play next Tuesday, Oct. 18 when they travel to Cuesta for a 7:00 p.m. match. They return home to host Oxnard on Friday, Oct. 21.
