SOFTBALL SWEEPS PAIR FROM L.A. PIERCE
WOODLAND HILLS-- Coach Ed Grose's AHC softball team produced at the plate Tuesday, sweeping a Western State Conference double-header at L.A. Pierce, 11-5, 11-6.
Hancock (6-16, 5-8 WSC) played inspired softball in the 85-degree heat of the West San Fernando Valley. In Game 2, the Bulldogs pounded out 18 hits and made no errors.
In the first game, Crystal Garcia (4-4) went the distance for the win and doubled in the fourth to help her own cause. Shortstop Staphanie Silva went 3-for-4, including a double and two RBIs, while first-baseman Nika Miller added a three-run triple.
In the second game, Silva blasted a grand slam in the sixth that was the difference. It was the first four-run round-tripper for the bulldogs this season. Winning pitcher Dalia Daniels (1-3) was also productive at the plate, going 4-for-5 with three RBIs. Miller added her second triple of the day in the fourth.
The Bulldogs will continue their WSC schedule with a single game at Cuesta College on Thursday, beginning at 2:30 p.m.
