NEXT LEVEL: Jacob Garbiso Commits to Sacramento State
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Allan Hancock College men's track & field throwing standout, Jacob Garbiso, will continue his academic and athletic career at Sacramento State next season.
"I chose Sac State because I know that they will develop me into the kind of thrower that I know I can become. From practice planning to weight room training, and even team culture, it's all designed to help their track athletes be as successful as humanly possible," Garbiso shared.
Garbiso wrapped up his junior college career after spending two seasons as a dual-sport athlete with the Bulldogs. The Arroyo Grande native closes this chapter with five individual Western State Conference crowns throughout his career at AHC, including back-to-back titles in the hammer throw and shot put events. Garbiso has etched his name in the record books after breaking the men's hammer record with a heave of 49.90 meters this spring, while ranking fourth in the shot put and tenth in the discus for the program. He was also a Second Team All-State honoree as a freshman after taking seventh place in the shot put at the 3C2A State Championship. Garbiso's resume also includes being a two-time Second Team All-League recipient on the football field.
"My time here at Hancock has prepared me for the next step by giving me time to learn the fundamentals of what it takes to be a successful college student-athlete. Not only doing what is expected with things like showing up early, but also with figuring out how to battle through adversity while keeping your head held high."
The Hornets are a Division I member of the NCAA and compete as members of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation for the indoor season and the Big Sky Conference outdoor season.
