MEN'S SOCCER MOVES TO SEMI-FINAL AT HARTNELL
SALINAS-- After ending regulation at, 0-0, the Allan Hancock College men's soccer team defeated Fresno City College on penalty kicks, and advanced to the semi-finals of the Hartnell College Tournament.
Hancock (0-0-1), received tremendous play from goal keeper Jose Perez (Fr., Santa Ynez HS) throughout the match. Perez made three big saves during the penalty shot portion, which decided who would move to the championship bracket. Earlier, in the second half, Perez made another save on a penalty kick to keep Fresno off the scoreboard.
The Bulldogs received outstanding defensive play from Jesus Garcia (So., Santa Maria HS) and Tito Ponce (So., Santa Maria). Coach Al Garcia was quite pleased with his team's effort on the day.
AHC will take on the winner of tonight's match between West Valley and Irvine. That match will take place on Saturday, Sept. 3 at 2:00 p.m.
