MEN'S SOCCER RALLIES TO TIE MOORPARK, 2-2
SANTA MARIA-- After falling behind 2-0 in the 25th minute of a rugged Western State Conference match against visiting Moorpark, Coach Al Garcia's Allan Hancock College men's soccer team rallied for a 2-2 tie on the AHC campus field.
Hancock (3-3-2, 0-2-2 WSC), which has now gone four outings without a victory, closed the gap to 2-1 in the 55th minute on a goal by sophomore forward John Mooney (Atascadero), who was assisted by brother Chris (freshman, Agoura). The Bulldogs tied the score in the 79th minute, when sophomore forward Guillermo Chavez (Santa Maria) scored off a pass from sophomore forward Omar Rueff (Santa Ynez). AHC had several close scoring opportunities in waning moments, but could not finish the Raiders off.
Moorpark (5-1-1, 2-1-1 WSC) scored goals in the 10th and 25th minute to lead 2-0 at the half. The Hancock defense was dominant in the second half, led by goal-keeper Francisco Hernandez (Santa Maria) and defenders Chris Bessemer (Merced Goilden Valley) and Mauricio Miranda (Santa Maria).
