MEN’S SOCCER POSTS 5-0 WIN OVER OHLONE IN HOME OPENER
SANTA MARIA-Coach Al Garcia's Allan Hancock College men's soccer team defeated Oholone College of Fremont in its 2003 home opener Saturday, 5-0.
The Bulldogs (3-1) were paced by defender Chris Bessmer (So., Merced), who scored a goal, added an assist and led the AHC defense to its first shutout of the young season. Bessmer's ball-hawking play at fullback was so effective, the visiting Renegades were limited to just four shots on goal. Miguel Zuniga (So., Arroyo Grande) was the offensive standout with two goals, while Guillermo Chavez (So., Santa Maria) and Francisco Hernandez (Fr., Santa Maria) each added a goal.
The Bulldogs will open their 2003 Western State Conference season in a key match at College of the Canyons on Friday.
