SANTA MARIA-Coach Al Garcia's Allan Hancock College men's soccer team picked up its first Western State Conference win of the 2003 season this afternoon on the campus field, as the Bulldogs defeated Oxnard, 4-2.
Hancock (4-3-2, 1-2-2 WSC) pulled out to a 3-0 lead and coasted home with the victory. AHC opened the scoring in the 21st minute on a loan goal by John Mooney (So., Atascadero). Just five minutes later, DeFerville returned the favor with an assisting pass to Omar Rueff (So., Santa Ynez), who's goal gave the Bulldogs a comfortable 3-0 margin.
After Oxnard (0-4-1, 0-4-1 WSC) closed the gap to 3-1 with a goal in the 41st minute, Hancock's Francisco Calderon (So., Lompoc) put the match away in the 64th minute on an assisting pass from Crespin Guerrero (Fr., Righetti).
The Bulldogs will be at home again Friday (Oct. 3), in a WSC match against Glendale beginning at 4:00 p.m.
