MIRANDA LEADS BULLDOGS' ALL-WSC SELECTIONS FOR 2003
SANTA MARIA-- Defender Mauricio Miranda led a contingent of five players from the Allan Hancock College men's soccer team to earn All-Western State Conference recognition for the 2003 season.
Miranda, a freshman out of Santa Maria High School, was among 19 players listed on the All-WSC first team. Freshman defender Chris Bessemer (Merced, CA - Golden Valley High School) and freshman midfielder Brett Mullinax (Yorba Linda, CA - El Dorado High School) each earned a spot on the all-conference second team.
The Bulldogs also placed two players on the WSC honorable mention list, including freshman forward Mark Deferville (Santa Ynez High School) and sophomore forward Francisco Calderon (Lompoc High School).
Under Coach Al Garcia, the Bulldogs posted a 6-8-2 Western State Conference record to finish fifth in the 2003 season.
