MEN'S SOCCER UPENDED BY GLENDALE, 3-0
SANTA MARIA-- Coach Al Garcia's Allan Hancock College men's soccer team dropped another hard-fought Western State Conference match on Friday, 3-0 to visiting Glendale College.
Hancock (4-4-2, 1-3-2 WSC) saw its chances of a third consecutive WSC championship sink further with the loss. Both teams played a strong defensive match until Glendale finally broke the ice with a goal in the 76th minute.
Glendale scored seven minutes later off a rebound, and the Bulldogs' vehement protest that an offensive penalty had occured netted a red-card ejection for goalie Francisco Hernandez. The Vaqueros closed out the scoring two minutes later.
Garcia praised the play of defenders Mauricio Miranda (Fr., Santa Maria) and Chris Bessemer (Fr., Merced Golden Valley), along with attacker John Mooney (So., Atascadero). Under COA rules, the Bulldogs will be without Hernandez when they host Citrus in another crucial WSC match on Tuesday (Oct. 7).
