SEVENTEEN BULLDOG FOOTBALL PLAYERS NAMED TO ALL-CONFERENCE
SANTA MARIA-- Allan Hancock College running back Andre Cirino was a unanimous selection to the All-Western State Conference Mountain Division team, leading a list of 17 Bulldogs to make the squad.
Cirino (So., Staten Island, NY), named all-conference in 2006, rushed for 1281 yards on the season with 14 touchdowns. He was first in the conference with all-purpose yards with 1782.
He was joined on the offensive first team by fellow sophomores Luke Conley (C, Righetti HS) and Jonathan Weinrich (OL, Arroyo Grande HS). The Bulldogs placed three sophomores on the second team, Tau Sudlow (OL, Brooklyn, NY), Kyle Pollack (TE, Arroyo Grande HS) and Tyrell Munnerlyn (WR, Ocala, FL).
Receiving honorable mention on offense were three Hancock running backs. Diondre Bryant (Crawfordville, FL) rushed for a 6.7 average, while Terrell Denson (Philadelphia, PA) finished with 582 yards. The third running back, fullback Jude Deras (Righetti HS)earned a spot for his excellent blocking. Quarterback Casey Cathcart (St. Joseph HS) threw for 1398 yards and had 12 touchdown passes. Bryant was the lone freshman.
On the defense, two Bulldog sophomores made the first team. Defensive lineman Luke Swangler (Paso Robles HS) was named as well as 2006 first team linebacker William Roundtree(Ocala, FL). Roundtree led the team in total tackles.
Sophomore Samuel Gulliume (Malden, MA) was named to the second team after being named honorable mention in 2006. One of the leading tacklers on the team, Guilliume was a punishing hitter. Ryan Head (San Luis Obispo HS) had four interceptions on the season and was also named second team as was fellow sophomore defensive back Neil Tidwell (Atascadero HS).
Sophomore defensive lineman Jelani Murray (Ft. Myers, FL) and freshman linebacker Robert Slater (Daytona Beach, FL) earned honorable mention designation.
QB Jacob Bower (Bakersfield) and RB Fred Winborn (Canyons) were named the Co-players of the division, while theri two coaches Jeff Chudy (Bakersfield) and Garett Tujague (Canyons) were the co-coaches of the year.
