SEVERAL FOOTBALL PLAYERS MOVE ON TO FOUR-YEAR PROGRAMS
SANTA MARIA-- Allan Hancock College football head coach Kris Dutra announced that 19 of the 2007 squad have successfully committed to four-year colleges and will continue their football careers.
Recent committments include three players going to Div. I AA Alabama State in Montgomery, Alabama. Wide receiver Tyrell Munerlyn, linebacker William Roundtree and running back Terrell Denson will play in the fall for the Hornets in 2008.
Other Div. I AA transfers are offensive lineman Tau Sudlow (Tennessee State Tigers- Nashville), defensive back Neil Tidwell (Cal Poly Mustangs- San Luis Obispo), offensive lineman Richard Nelson and linebacker Sam Guilliume both to the Murray State Racers in Murray, Kentucky.
Div. II transfers are linebacker Luke Swangler (Humboldt St. Lumberjacks - Arcada, CA), offensive lineman James St. Germain (Elizabeth City Vikings - Elizabeth City, NC), offensive lineman Jonathon Weinrich (West Alabama Tigers - Livingston, AL), kicker/punter Juan Velasco (Kansas Weslyan Coyotes - Salina, KS) and running back Desmond Patrick and defensive lineman Jelani Murray to the Edinboro University Fighting Scots in Edinboro, PA.
As previously announced six starters for the Bulldogs are mid-year transfers and are already at their new institutions. Tight end Kyle Pollack (Div. I Eastern Michigan), offensive lineman Luke Conley (Div. I Arizona State), defensive back Ryan Head (Div. I AA Idaho St.), defensive back Chad Simpson (Div. II Mesa St.), quarterback Casey Cathcart (Div. II Arkansas - Monticello) and fullback Jude Deras (NAIA Bethel Univ.) are already on the campuses and have all participated in their new team's spring practices.
Dutra said there will be more announcements of other players moving on in the near future.
Conley, Weinrich, Swangler and Roundtree were named All-conference first team players in 2007, while Sudlow, Pollack, Munnerlyn, Guilliume, Head and Tidwell received second-team honors. Denson, Deras, Cathcart and Murray were named honorable mention.
