FOOTBALL TEAM HOSTS WEST HILLS IN HOME OPENER SATURDAY
SANTA MARIA-- The Allan Hancock College football team will open its 2003 home schedule on Saturday at Righetti High School's Warrior Stadium, when the Bulldogs host West Hills College of Coalinga at 7:00 p.m.
The game will be brodcast live on KUHL Radio (AM 1440), with Brad Memberto and Irvin Keiger mikeside.
Hancock (0-1) comes off a narrow 10-7 loss at East Los Angeles in last week's season opener. Although the Bulldog defense turned in a solid performance, limiting the Huskies to just 226 yards, the AHC offense could manage just 162. The game was decided on ELAC's 42-yard field goal with seven seconds to play.
West Hills (0-1) will also be seeking its first win of the year after dropping a similar contest, 10-6 to powerful Butte College. In that game, the Falcons gave up 367 yards --215 through the air-- but were able to limit the state's sixth-ranked team to a scant 10 points. Much like the Bulldogs, West Hills experienced its share of offensive frustrations in its season opener, finishing with just 221 total yards and only 78 through the air.
