Hancock Hosts Ranked Teams During Annual Spring Classic Tuesday through Thursday

The Allan Hancock College baseball team hosts the annual Spring Baseball Classic this week from Tuesday, March 22 through Thursday, March 24 with games at Hancock, Cuesta College and Elks Field in Santa Maria. The field includes seven ranked teams, including the No. 20 Bulldogs (11-10), No. 9 Cuesta, No. 2 Cypress, No. 4 Canyons, No. 10 Fresno, No. 17 Cerritos, No. 19 Merced, and East L.A.

Hancock will open on Tuesday, March 22, against East Los Angeles (8-10) at 3 p.m. The Bulldogs will have Wednesday off before returning on Thursday, March 23, against No. 2 Cypress, which enters the week 15-3 overall.

The Bulldogs went 1-2 last week in Western State Conference games. It started with a 5-1 home win over Moorpark behind a combined-two-hitter from Kyle King and freshman Jason Terrones (Lompoc HS). The duo combined to strike out 11, including eight from King over 5 1/3 innings. Colby Barrick (Santa Ynez HS), Jacob Tonascia, Hunter Christensen and Tim Mahoney (St. Joseph) had two hits apiece. Barrick hit a two-run triple, Colton Studebaker also had 2 RBI in the win. Hancock followed that with an 11-7 loss at Moorpark despite 17 hits. Christensen and Barrick had three hits each. Zach Lampreia, Justin Daraban, Chris Taitague (Lompoc HS) and Studebaker had two hits apiece. Christensen and Studebaker each drove in two runs.  The Bulldogs ended the week with a 7-2 loss at home to Santa Barbara City College.
