Bulldog Baseball Tabbed No. 15 in SoCal Preseason Poll
Armed with six sophomores who earned All-Conference honors last season, the Allan Hancock College baseball team has been ranked No. 15 in the Southern California Preseason Poll issued by the California Community College Baseball Coaches Association. The 2016 season will mark the 15th season for Chris Stevens as head coach of the Bulldogs. Last year, the Bulldogs finished 13-23 overall and 8-16 in Western State Conference play.
Two-time defending state champion Orange Coast College is the preseason's top ranked team, followed by No. 2 Palomar and No. 3 Cypress. Two Western State Conference –North Division teams are ranked in the top five with Santa Barbara City College at number four and Oxnard at five.
Santa Ynez High School graduate Colby Barrick returns for his sophomore season with the Bulldogs. Last year, he hit .317 and led the Bulldogs with 23 runs, a .433 on-base percentage, 18 walks and four triples. Barrick was an All-Conference First Team pick in 2015.
Third baseman Zach Lampreia, a Second Team pick last season, will be back. He led Hancock last season with 41 hits and 19 RBI to go with his .320 batting average.
Pitchers Chance Miranda and Skylar Bischoff, both Righetti High School graduates, as well as outfielder Colton Studebaker are three more returning All-Conference selections. They received All-Conference honorable mention one year ago.
St. Joseph High School graduate Tim Mahoney, who received the conference's Gold Glove at first base, will also return for the Bulldogs in 2016. He hit .271 with 9 RBI.
