No. 13 Hancock Baseball Returns Home to Host No. 3 Oxnard on Tuesday
The Hancock baseball team returns home looking to snap a three-game skid. The Bulldogs lost three conference games last week, 6-5 at home to LA Pierce, 5-4 at LA Pierce, and 7-0 at Oxnard. Both games against Pierce were one-run affairs where Hancock put the tying runs on base in the late innings, but could not deliver the clutch two-out hits.
The Bulldogs are 3-4 in Western State Conference play and 5-10 overall. Oxnard enters 9-2-1 overall and 4-1 in conference. The Condors are in first place, half a game ahead of Santa Barbara to start the week. Hancock is two games back.
Freshman Hunter Christensen leads the team with a .350 batting average, while Santa Ynez High School graduate Colby Barrick is hitting at a .333 clip and leads the Bulldogs with 11 runs, 17 hits and two triples.
Oxnard's top hitters so far this season are Dustyn Cook (.419), outfielder Nick Morelli (.364), and Daniel Barnett (.362 and 11 RBI).
Hancock travels to West Hills Coalinga on Friday. The Falcons are off to a 3-12 start and led by Derek DeNoveillis (.293), Mckay Glines (.293), and Anthony Cisneros (.417).
